Obituary:
David William MacGibbon
54, New Victoria
It is with heavy hearts that we announce David William MacGibbon's life journey has come to an end on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at our home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
David was born in New Waterford, June 29, 1953, the eldest son of Rita (MacNeil) MacGibbon and the late George MacGibbon.
David was the cherished husband of Judy (Pasher) MacGibbon since December 1977. Also a wonderful and compassionate father to our children, Shelly (David) Gingras, Moncton, N.B., Laurie (R.J.) Marshe, Timberly, N.S., and Jeffery, at home. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruby Walsh, Nancy (Leo) Quilty, Melinda Eldridge, all of New Waterford; brothers, Ray and Ronnie, of Halifax; mother-in-law, Gladys Pasher; brothers-in-law, Jim (Wilma), Joe (Linda), Rob, Glenn (Mary), Bruce (Tina), Keith (Susan); and sister-in-law, Mary McLaughlin. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
David was a plumber by trade, a member of Local 682 of UAP & P. He started his construction career in 1974, coming to work for J.D. Smyth which later became part of Lynk Electric Ltd., where he was employed up to his illness.
David will be remembered as a model gentleman, whose life centred around his family and home. He shared his sense of humour with all who knew him through his wisecracks, joke telling, giving of nicknames and those crazy foot moves at work.
Visitation for David will take place Thursday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S. A funeral service will take place Friday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church with Nancy Whitney, DLM, officiating. Following the burial in Union Grove Cemetery, a luncheon will be held in Calvin Hall, all are invited.
