Clara Pasher, Sydney Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada, - Clara Virginia Pasher, 73, of St. Joseph Street, New Waterford, passed away Saturday, Feb.14, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late George and Martha (Bresson) Cecchetto.
Clara was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church and the New Waterford Lioness Club. She worked in the meat department at the CO-OP in New Wateford. Clara was an avid bowler and dart player. She also loved ice skating and playing cards. Clara has many happy family memories from Lake Ainslie that she holds close to her heart. Surviving are daughters, Melvina (Glen) Pasher, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Donnelda Pasher, Thompson, Man.; son, Brian Pasher, Thompson, Man.; brothers, Georgie (Mary) Cecchetto, New Waterford, George Cecchetto, Halifax; sisters, Georgetta (Jack) Timmons, New Glasgow, Anna (Denis) Arbuckle, Amherst, N.S.; grandchildren, Rayonie (Rui), Stephen, David, Michael, and Buddy; daughter-in-law, Carmel (Rockett) Pasher; several nieces and nephews.
Besides family members, Clara will be missed by numerous friends, especially Sadie Chambers. Clara was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Pasher, son, Stephen Pasher, and brother, Sonny Cecchetto.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Clara will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. A luncheon will follow at St Agnes Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, Scotchtown Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of one choice.
