Sasine of William Carruthers of Guileburn - February 17, 1768
At Dumfries this seventeenth day of February seventeen sixty eight years betwixt the hours of ten and before noon the Sasine after insert wrote upon stamped parchment was presented by John Graham apprentice to John Clark writer in Dumfries to be recorded in this register conform to Parliament of which sasine the ten follows "In the name of God Amen" be it known to all men this present public instrument that upon the twenty seventh day of January seventeen sixty eight in the reign of our Sovereign King George the Third by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, the eight(?) Year in presence of me notary public and witnesses after named being conferred personally upon the Ground of the said underwritten William Carruthers in Sorrysyke third son to William Carruthers of Guileburn for himself as an attorney for Elizabeth, Mary Carruthers his sisters and daughters of the said William Carruthers of Guilebum and Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, and Jean Carruthers, his grandchildren where as power of attorney did sufficiently appear before Notary Public and there also conferred John Kennedy in Burnfoot Baille in that part of the said William Carruthers of Guileburn specially constitute to the effect after mentioned by virtue of the precept of sasine after insert and the said William Carruthers had in his hands the here to able provision of the Dale underwritten containing the precept of Sasine after insert granted by the William Carruthers of Guileburn to the said William Carruthers, Elizabeth, Mary, Jean Carruthers son and daughters and Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, and Jean Carruthers his grandchildren whereby the causes there in specified the said William Carruthers of Guileburn bound and obliged himself his.... and… .... whatsoever to make payments to his said children and grandchildren their… and.... whatsoever of the sum of money.... and after mentioned at the first term of the… .. . .day at Martinmas after his death namely to the said William Carruthers his son.… aforesaid of forty pounds sterling item to the said Elizabeth Carruthers and her foresaid of ten pounds sterling item to the said Mary Carruthers and her foresaid of ten pounds sterling item to the said Jean Carruthers and her foresaids of ten pounds sterling all daughters of the said William Carruthers of Guileburn items to Joseph Carruthers aforesaid grandson and his foresaids of two pounds shillings sterling item Mary Carruthers eldest sister to the said Joseph Carruthers of two pounds ten shillings sterling item to Elizabeth as aforesaid second sister to the said Joseph Carruthers aforesaid of two pounds ten shillings sterling item to the said Jean Carruthers third sister to the aforesaid Joseph Carruthers and her foresaid of two pounds sterling together with one fifth of the said turns(?) Of legal(?) Penalty for this term payment there of Tote(?) Of notice of the said William Carruthers of Guileburn thereby bound and obliged on his heirs and servants upon their own....charges and echizes (?)
