Rev. Thomas Philpe

  • Born: Abt 1630
  • Marriage: Rev. Thomas Philpe
  • Buried: 26 Jun 1705, St. Neot, Cornwall, England

bullet  General Notes:

Mary, the wife of Thomas PHILPE (vicar of Saint Neot). I know she was born sometime circa 1630 at a guess, though sadly I don't have her maiden name and marriage details. However, I do know that she died in 1705 at St Neot, Cornwall; she was buried on 26 Jun 1705, St Neot, and has a memorial which can be seen attached to the outside wall of the East End of St Neot church. It reads:

"'Tis neither faith nor good works can save
The bodies of the faithful from the grave
Although their souls are precious in God's eye
As hers is as we trust who here doth lye.
She was a nurse to her poor neighbourhood
Gave to her powers good counsel and physick food
It was her practice to be doing good.".

She seems to have been held in very high regard by the parishioners, as, indeed, was her husband.

Mary married Rev. Thomas Philpe, son of Thomas Philpe and Unknown. (Rev. Thomas Philpe was born about 1620 in St. Veep, Cornwall, England, died on 20 Mar 1705 in St. Neot, Cornwall, England and was buried on 20 Mar 1705 in St. Neot, Cornwall, England.)
