bullet  General Notes:

Samuel Leard II, son of Samuel Leard I, was the elder son of Samuel and Margaret (Rogers) Leard. He did not inherit the homestead but was given land at the mouth of the Tryon River on what was called Sandy Point. Therefore, his descendants become known as "The Point Leards". Samuel was a weaver by trade. He married Elizabeth Brown of Charlottetown PEI by Rev. DesBrisay on October 14, 1799. He died May 30, 1867 in Tryon and is buried in the Tryon People's Cemetery. Elizabeth died in 1862 and is buried in the same cemetery. One of her sisters, Catherine, lived to be 111 years less 14 days. Elizabeth was the fourth child of Lawrence Brown and Jean Jamieson.
